FG reduces fees for conduct of statutory marriages

The Federal government has reviewed fees for the conduct of statutory marriages in Nigeria.

The Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, approved the recommendation of stakeholders at the sensitization conferences across the country in the third quarter of 2019 for the downward review of fees.

In a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary/principal Registrar of marriages in Nigeria, Georgina Ehuriah, released on the Twitter handle of the Ministry on Tuesday, the new fees were to take effect from July 1, 2020.

The fees for fresh marriage license to a place of public worship was reduced from N30,000(2 years) to 6,000 (per year).
