BREAKING: Fire razes World Trade Centre, Abuja

Fire on Monday gutted a section of the World Trade Centre building located in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

According to an eyewitness who spoke to the Punch, the fire started from the top of the skyscraper which dots the skyline of Central Business District, Abuja.

 

First responders including firefighters were yet to be seen at the incident scene as of the time of filing this report.

 

Since it began in 1939 in New York, United States, the World Trade Centre brand has since become global trade hubs in more than 90 countries including Nigeria.

''Are we still unknown in this country?'' – Nigerians react to self-certification form order

  FIRS Chairman, Mohammad Nami Nigerians have reacted to the directive by the Federal government to account holders in financial institutions to submit self-certification forms. The Federal government ordered all account holders in financial institutions to submit self-certification forms to their respective institutions. The FG stated this on Thursday, September 17 via its twitter account, Government of Nigeria. ‘’@NigeriaGo’’ According to the tweet, ‘’This is to notify the general public that all account holders in Financial Institutions (Banks, Insurance Companies, etc) are required to obtain, complete and submit Self – Certification Forms to their respective Financial Institutions. ‘’Persons holding accounts in different financial institutions is required to complete & submit the form to each one of the institutions. Nigeria makes plans to assist DR Congo establish national fire service

  Nigeria is making preparations to assist the Democratic Republic of Congo to establish a national fire service. Dr Ibrahim Liman, Controller General of the Federal Fire Service (FFS) made this know on Wednesday in Jalingo when he paid a visit to the Nigeria Correctional Service, Taraba Command.   “The DR Congo requested for assistance and the FFS positively responded.   “The request became necessary due to the capacity of the organisation as the most qualified and second best fire responders in Africa,” he said.   The CG said that the qualification was determined by the capacity of its fire fighting equipment and the strength of its personnel.   He commended President Muhammadu Buhari for changing the narrative of the fire sector in Nigeria.   Liman further attributed the achievement to the commitment of the president who ensured that all the budgetary allocations had been released in 100 per cent form to the organisation.  ...
